Frooty Singapore Sling
Intro & Description
The Singapore sling is a classic gin cocktail that has delighted drinkers for over a century. The popular story is that it was developed around 1915 by Ngiam Tong Boon at the Long Bar in Singapore's Raffles Hotel. Though its origin is debatable, it is a semisweet, sparkling gin punch with a delightfully complex flavour.
A fascinating cocktail that is well worth your time to explore.
Recipe
Ingredients:
500ml BWG Froots Punch
250ml BWG Pineapple Punch
90ml London dry gin
15ml Orange liqueur
15ml Cherry brandy (cherry liqueur)
15ml Benedictine
30ml Grenadine
30ml Fresh lemon juice
Dash of aromatic bitters
Preparation:
Add all of the ingredients to a 2 litre glass pitcher with 4 cups of ice blocks.
Stir contents and let stand for the ice to melt slightly.
Fill 8 hurricane glasses with ice blocks and pour over the pitcher contents.
A cocktail cherry and pineapple wedge around the rim makes for a mouthwatering garnish.
Recipe Notes
If you like, float the cherry brandy (liqueur) on top by pouring it over the back of a bar spoon as the final step.
For a less tarty taste, use less lemon juice.
